Finally a new satellite navigation system is being developed by scientists to exclusively aid the elderly.
The new GPS has been dubbed “Sat-Nan” and aimed at helping older people to navigate new places such as modern shopping centres.
Studies have shown that elderly people lack the confidence to walk around new environments. It is hoped that the “sat-nan” will help to keep more elderly people mobile.
The UK government is so impressed by such devices, that it has decided to invest £12 million via the research council.
Such devices could open the way to even more strange and wonderful uses for GPS. Maybe we could find a GPS on-board a future vacuum cleaner?
